We do not enter heaven by doing something on our part, but by believing in the gospel of water (baptism) and the Spirit that the Lord has already accomplished for us.

Let's look at today's scripture.

Matthew 7:21,

"Not everyone who says to Me, 'Lord, Lord,' shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven."

Looking at the scripture verses preceding our main text, Jesus spoke about false prophets and said to enter through the narrow gate.

The main text states that to enter the kingdom of heaven, one must do the will of My Father in heaven.

Who are those who do the Father's will?

When people hear that they must do the Father's will, they think they must do something themselves. Many people think they need to do something on their part, such as living righteously before the Lord or serving Him well by offering something. However, is this truly doing the Father's will?

If you zealously serve the Lord in this way according to your own thoughts and come before Him, Matthew 7:22–23 says,

"Many will say to Me in that day, 'Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?' And then I will declare to them, 'I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!'"

So what does it mean to do God's will?

John 3:18 speaks about this:

"He that believeth on him is not judged: he that believeth not hath been judged already, because he hath not believed on the name of the only begotten Son of God."

In other words, God's will is that the purpose for creating mankind was to send His Son, Jesus, as our Savior to earth so that by believing in what He accomplished to save mankind from sin and judgment, believers may enter the kingdom of heaven.

The name "Jesus" means "He will save His people from their sins" (Matthew 1:21). And "Christ" means "the anointed one" - who receives this anointing? The High Priest, King, and Prophet receive anointing. In this way, Jesus Christ was sent by the Father as the heavenly High Priest, the King of kings, and as the Prophet who proclaimed this truth.

Jesus came to this earth and fulfilled the Father's will by saving all of us, mankind, from all sins, just as the name Jesus says, and allowing those who believe in that salvation and are without sin to enter heaven.

So what did Jesus do to fulfill the Father's will? What was His ministry before the Father?

Matthew 3:15–17

"But Jesus answered and said to him, 'Permit it to be so now, for thus it is fitting for us to fulfill all righteousness.' Then he allowed Him. When He had been baptized, Jesus came up immediately from the water; and behold, the heavens were opened to Him, and He saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting upon Him. And suddenly a voice came from heaven, saying, 'This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.'"

When Jesus came to earth as the heavenly High Priest and the Lamb of God, at the age of 30 when He began His public ministry, He was baptized by John the Baptist, the last high priest on earth, and thus fulfilled "all righteousness". By taking all the sins of the world through baptism upon His flesh, He eliminated all the world's sins and fulfilled God's will.

Baptism carries the meaning of "to pass on" "to bury," "to be transferred," and "to be washed," like the laying on of hands, signifying that Jesus took away all the sins of the world through His baptism.

Being baptized, receiving the passing of sins, and being immersed in water symbolizes death. This means that Jesus took all the world's sins through baptism and received judgment for our sins on the Cross, and His coming up from the water signifies His resurrection from death, giving us eternal new life.

Therefore, God the Father saw that Jesus had fulfilled "all righteousness" through baptism and said, "This is my beloved Son," and was delighted.

The blood on the Cross is the result.

Jesus did not simply shed blood on the Cross without transferring sins through baptism. The blood of the Cross is the "result" of being baptized.

In this way, Jesus was baptized to fulfill the Father's will, bore all the sins of this world, and saved all humanity from all sins by receiving judgment on the Cross in our place. And He was resurrected and enabled those who believe in His work to enter the kingdom of heaven, which is eternal life.

This is God's will and 'the purpose for which He created us.'

Therefore, we cannot enter heaven without knowing God the Father's will.

Just as Jesus was baptized, was judged on the Cross, shed His blood, and saved us from all sins to fulfill the Father's will, we must believe in the truth of salvation as Jesus accomplished it, and also spread it exactly as it is.

We do not enter heaven by doing something on our part, but by believing in the gospel of water (baptism) and the Spirit that the Lord has already accomplished for us.

Without this, we cannot enter the kingdom of heaven. Believing this truth is what we must do before the Lord.

Believing in the ministry that Jesus performed to save us from all sins is knowing the truth, becoming free from sin, and doing God's will.
