Do you know the reason why Jesus had to be baptized by John the Baptist? [Christian Testimony 34]
The baptism of Jesus symbolizes the transfer of sins to the spotless and flawless Lamb.
Therefore, by believing in this Word that all sins were transferred to Jesus, I am eternally without sin, and all my past, present, and future sins have been eliminated once and for all through the gospel of water and the Spirit.
I was a sinner before believing in the gospel of water and the Spirit because although I believed in Jesus, I did not know that He took away and eliminated all my sins through His baptism by water.
However, God led me to encounter the free evangelistic book “Have You Truly Been Born Again of Water and the Spirit?” by Rev. Paul C. Jong of The New Life Mission. Through this book, I understood all these Words — why Jesus, who is God, had to be baptized and why He was called ‘The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world (John 1:29)’ — and received the blessing of being born again through faith.
“For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ. There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus. And if you are Christ’s, then you are Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.” (Galatians 3:27–29)
Now, because the Holy Spirit dwells in my heart through my faith in the gospel of water and the Spirit, I can live with a good conscience before God.

Do you know precisely why Jesus came to the Jordan River at the age of 30, when His public ministry began, to be baptized by John the Baptist, and what the purpose of this was?
‘Then Jesus came from Galilee to John at the Jordan to be baptized by him. And John tried to prevent Him, saying, “I need to be baptized by You, and are You coming to me?” But Jesus answered and said to him, “Permit it to be so now, for thus it is fitting for us to fulfill all righteousness.” Then he allowed Him. When He had been baptized, Jesus came up immediately from the water; and behold, the heavens were opened to Him, and He saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting upon Him. And suddenly a voice came from heaven, saying, “This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.”’ (Matthew 3:13–17)
After Jesus was baptized by John the Baptist, the next day John saw Jesus coming toward him and testified in John 1:29
“Behold! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!” (John 1:29)
Jesus received baptism, which was like the laying on of hands in the Old Testament (meaning: to pass over, to impute), from John the Baptist, who was the last high priest and the greatest among those born of women, representing all humanity.
In this way, Jesus took upon Himself all the sins of the world and went to the cross bearing all these sins, died shedding His blood as the price for those sins, and rose again. By eliminating all the sins of the world in this manner, He saved all who believe from all their past, present, and future sins of the world.
Jesus’ baptism is an indispensable and essential truth of salvation in our redemption.
1 Peter 3:21 states, “And this water, the antitype, now saves you through the resurrection of Jesus Christ.” It says that Jesus’ baptism is the antitype that saves us.
