What Faith Can Overcome the World? [Christian Sermon 23]

Do you believe that Jesus is God?

Jesus is the King of kings and the absolute One who has saved us from all the sins of the world through water, blood, and the Holy Spirit—that is, He is God.

We must completely break away from human thoughts, judgments, and worldly doctrines, and accurately learn and believe what the purpose of Jesus as God coming to this earth was, and what the work of salvation was that He accomplished by coming in the flesh.

Only then can we attain salvation through faith, not through human effort or works.

The sermon message I will deliver today is excerpted from "Have You Truly Been Born Again of Water and the Spirit?" by Pastor Paul C. Jong, a servant of God at The New Life Mission.

Did Jesus come by water? Yes, He did.

He came by His baptism. The water is the baptism of Jesus by John the Baptist at the Jordan River. It was the baptism of redemption with which He took away all the sins of the world.

Did Jesus come by blood? Yes, He did.

He came in the flesh of man and was baptized to take away all the sins of the world, then paid off the wages of sin by bleeding on the Cross. Jesus came by blood.


Did Jesus come by the Spirit? Yes, He did.

Jesus was God, but He came as the Spirit in the flesh to be the Savior of sinners.

Many people do not believe that Jesus came by water, blood, and the Spirit.

Only a few believe that Jesus is truly the King of kings, the God of gods. The majority of people still doubt, ‘Is Jesus truly the Son of God or the Son of Man?’ And many, including theologians and ministers, believe in Jesus as a man rather than as God, the Savior, and the absolute Being.

But God said that anyone who believes that Jesus is the King of all kings, the true God, and the true Savior would be begotten of Him. Those who love God love Jesus, and those who truly believe in God love Jesus in the same way.

Man cannot overcome the world.
The Apostle John told us that only true Christians could overcome the world. The reason why the faithful overcome the world is that they have faith in the water, the blood, and the Spirit of Jesus. The power to overcome the world cannot spring from man’s will, endeavor, or fervor.

“Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I have become sounding brass or a clanging cymbal. And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, but have not love, it profits me nothing” (1 Corinthians 13:1–3).

‘The love’ referred to here means Jesus, who came by water, blood, and the Spirit.

All of us humans, who are born fundamentally with sin and have no choice but to face the judgment of hell, do not have the ability to overcome the world, that is, Satan.

In this age of the black horse, the age of famine, stained with false religions, theologies, and doctrines that have lost the light of truth, the only faith by which we can overcome the world is to accept and believe in the love of Jesus who came by water, blood, and the Holy Spirit, exactly as the Word says.

The “water” by which Jesus took upon Himself all our sins that would send us to hell, once and for all through His baptism (1 Peter 3:21),

The “blood” by which He received judgment in our place on the cross as the wages of those sins (Romans 6:23),

And by believing in Jesus, the only begotten Son, who is fundamentally God but came to this earth by the “Holy Spirit” in a physical body,

I hope you will have all your sins removed, receive the Holy Spirit as a gift, and become one who overcomes the world.

Jesus was baptized to take away all the sins of the world, and He had to die on the cross, shedding His blood to pay the price for all sins that were transferred to Him through His baptism.
