HAVE YOU TRULY BEEN BORN AGAIN OF WATER AND THE SPIRIT? [New Revised Edition]

Matthew 3:15

“Permit it to be so now, for thus it is fitting for us to fulfill all righteousness.”

In the Old Testament, God gave the Law of atonement sacrifice according to the Old Testament Law to atone for the sins of the Israelites for one year at once.

According to this, a high priest representing Israel was needed, a sacrificial offering was needed to take upon itself the sins of all the people of Israel by laying on of hands, and the sacrificial offering that bore all the sins of Israel through laying on of hands had to be killed as the price for those sins. Thus, all the sins of the Israelites for one year were atoned for at once.

This was God’s Wisdom.

Similarly, God sent Jesus as an atoning sacrifice to save all mankind, and first sent ‘John the Baptist’ as the person to transfer the sins of the world to Jesus by baptizing Him on behalf of mankind.

God directly appointed John the Baptist as the representative of mankind, as the last high priest of mankind.

In Matthew 11:11, when it says “Among those born of women there has not risen one greater than John the Baptist” it indicates the importance of his role. John the Baptist fulfilled his mission by transferring the sins of the whole world to Jesus by baptizing Him.

Jesus, who came as the atoning sacrifice, that is, the Lamb of God, was baptized by John the Baptist at the age of 30. This is because according to the Old Testament Law, one had to be at least 30 years old to perform the role of High Priest.

When Jesus came to be baptized by John, John hesitated, saying, “I need to be baptized by You, and are You coming to me?” However, Jesus commanded, “Permit it to be so now, for thus it is fitting for us to fulfill all righteousness.” and was baptized.

Baptism means “to pass on,” “to transfer,” “to wash,” “to be immersed.”

Because Jesus had all the sins of this world passed on to Him through baptism, He eliminated all the sins of this world. In this way, Jesus took away all the sins of the world, and God’s righteousness was fulfilled.

And the Bible testifies in Matthew 11:12, “And from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffers violence, and the violent take it by force.” This means that John the Baptist’s ministry was essential for entering the kingdom of heaven. It means that anyone who believes in Jesus’ baptism and the blood of the Cross can enter the kingdom of heaven.

John the Baptist represents Mankind, and Jesus represents Heaven.

The baptism of Jesus performed when these two met was not a mere ceremony, but became the starting point of salvation where He bore all the sins of mankind, and it is the decisive truth of salvation that fulfills God’s righteousness.

Through this, God perfectly fulfilled His plan of salvation, and all who believe in Jesus’ baptism and blood are sinless through faith, and through this faith we enter the kingdom of heaven.
