Which Church Is the True Church of God? [Bible Study 4]

 

Peter believed that Jesus was the Son of God the Father and the Christ. In other words, he believed that Jesus was God and also believed in Christ's ministry that He fulfilled on earth.


Matthew 16:15–19

‘He said to them, “But who do you say that I am?”

Simon Peter answered and said, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.”

Jesus answered and said to him, “Blessed are you, Simon Bar-Jonah, for flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but My Father who is in heaven. And I also say to you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build My church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it. And I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.”’


Jesus Christ said He would build His church upon Peter’s faith.

And He said He would give him the keys to the kingdom of heaven.


What kind of faith did Jesus see in Peter?

Peter believed that Jesus was the Son of God the Father and the Christ. In other words, he believed that Jesus was God and also believed in Christ’s ministry that He fulfilled on earth.


The word “Christ” means “the Anointed One.”

There are mainly three offices that receive “anointing.”


Jesus Christ fulfilled these three ministries (offices): first as the King of kings, second as the High Priest of heaven, and third as the Prophet, thereby removing the sins of all sinners in the world and becoming the Savior of all humanity.


As the King of kings and the High Priest of heaven, Jesus was baptized by John the Baptist, humanity’s final high priest, in a baptism equivalent to the laying on of hands.

Through this baptism, He took all the sins of the world upon Himself, and as payment for all those sins, He shed His blood on the Cross to pay the price for all humanity’s sins. Then He rose from the dead after three days and gave eternal life to those who believe in this ministry of salvation that Jesus fulfilled and are born again without sin.


Furthermore, as a Prophet, He revealed to us all this gospel of salvation that He accomplished through His ministry.

Because Peter believed that Jesus was God and in the ministry He fulfilled, he became sinless and received recognition of his faith from Jesus.


Therefore, God’s church refers to the gathering of sinless people who praise and follow the Lord through faith in the ministry of salvation that Jesus fulfilled — the water (Jesus taking away all sins through His baptism), the blood (paying the price of sin on the Cross), and the Spirit (believing that Jesus is God).


We hope that you too will possess the faith that Jesus acknowledges, like Peter, and enter the kingdom of heaven.

Which Came First: Faith in God's Righteousness or the Law? [Bible Study 2]

  Before giving the Law, God first gave the righteousness of faith to become children of God through faith.  As recorded in Genesis, Adam and Eve, Abel, Seth and Enoch, Noah, Abraham, Isaac, Jacob and his descendants were justified by faith in God’s Word without the Law. This is because the gospel of water and the Spirit has given meaning to my life. The problem of mankind lies in sin. It is also problematic that Christians remain in sin. However, Pastor Paul C.   The "baptism" that Jesus Christ was baptized by John the Baptist was the only way Christ took upon Himself all our sins.
